August 5-8, 2025 - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
Come and celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first organized emigration from Norway to America at the Flere Lag Stevne in Onalaska, Wisconsin, August 5-7, 2025! This gathering is sponsored by heritage groups whose ancestors came from the old Norwegian regions of Solør, Romerike (Akershus), Hedmark, Gudbrandsdal, and Trøndelag. Volunteer genealogists with experience in researching those areas will be on hand to assist in tracing family history in Norwegian records.
Dr. Lawrence Moe is slated to give the keynote address Wednesday morning with an
overview of the history of Norwegian migration during the past two centuries. On
Wednesday evening a bus tour is scheduled to Norskedalen in Coon Valley, including a
picnic dinner and concert. The Wergeland Dancers will entertain at the Thursday
night banquet. Program presentation topics during the three days include "Coffin
Ships", "Norwegian Immigrants in the LaCrosse area," "The Ancient Craft of
Skinnfell," and "The Symbolism of Church Ships."
